13th Annual Wife Carrying Championship

The 13th Annual North American Wife Carrying Championship has been scheduled for Saturday, October 6, 2012! Last year’s event brought 3,000 spectators to Sunday River to watch 50 teams compete for cash and prizes. Congratulations to Rocco Andreozzi from Bethel, Maine, and Kim Wasco from Farmington, Maine, for winning the championship with a time of 49.64 seconds. They got major bragging rights, plus Kim’s weight in beer and five times her weight in cash. Registration will open in September.
Mountain Epic

You will have the opportunity to compete in one of three courses that range in difficulty from tough to absolutely crazy hard. The 4-mile course is do-able for most athletes and tops one peak, the 8-mile course covers 5 peaks and the 12-mile course covers all 8 peaks of Sunday River. All courses will be supported with aid stations and signage. No matter what race you choose, it is guaranteed to be an epic experience!
