FIVE FIELDS FARM

Cross country skiing is a new venture for us. Our apple operation is smaller now and the time has come to share our location with others. Elevation puts us on the right side of the "snow line".

There are no guarantees, but, when it snows in the foothills of the White Mountains we usually have to shovel it. You park where we formerly loaded trucks of fruit, warm up and change in what was our apple packing room. We have equipment rentals including snowshoes. Snacks are available sufficient to restore energy after your time outside. Instruction and terrain is available to start the inexperienced.

Our trail system starts with loops around the orchards and the connecting logging roads between them. Links have been established with land owned by Loon Echo on Bald Pate Mountain. It is not possible to reach the summit by skis, but a 20 minute trek on snowshoes will yield a view to the horizon including numerous ponds and lakes.

Trails are largely one way, with Bi-direction skiing only where absolutely necessary. We have constructed our system such that new skiers will rapidly be able to access all terrain.
